Why RF Microneedling Is One of My Favourite Treatments for Healthy, Radiant Skin

By Liz, Dermal Clinician & Enrolled Nurse

Living in SEQ, we're lucky to enjoy the beautiful Queensland lifestyle. Sunshine, boating, walking by the water, weekends outdoors—it's one of the reasons we love living here.

But our Australian climate also presents one of the biggest challenges for our skin.

While sensible sun exposure is important for supporting healthy Vitamin D levels, years of UV exposure can contribute to collagen breakdown, pigmentation, uneven skin texture and premature ageing. Finding that balance between enjoying our lifestyle and protecting our skin is one of the most important conversations I have with my clients.

One treatment I continually come back to because of the natural, long-term results it can achieve is RF Microneedling.

What is RF Microneedling?

RF (Radio Frequency) Microneedling combines two clinically proven technologies into one treatment.

Tiny sterile needles create controlled micro-channels within the skin while radiofrequency energy is delivered into the deeper layers where collagen and elastin are produced.

This process encourages your skin's natural repair response, helping stimulate new collagen over time.

Rather than changing how you look, the goal is to help your skin function more like younger, healthier skin.

Why I Love This Treatment

As a Dermal Clinician, I believe healthy skin should look natural.

My goal isn't to make someone look different—it is to help them look refreshed, confident and comfortable in their own skin.

RF Microneedling is one of my favourite treatments because it works with your body's own healing process.

Over time, clients often notice improvements in:

  • Skin firmness

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Enlarged pores

  • Acne scarring

  • Uneven skin texture

  • Overall skin quality

  • Mild skin laxity

The results develop gradually as collagen continues rebuilding beneath the surface, making the improvements look natural rather than obvious.

Why One Treatment Isn't Enough

One question I hear often is:

"Will I see results after one treatment?"

Many clients notice their skin looks fresher after the first session.

However, collagen takes time to regenerate.

That's why I generally recommend a course of four treatments, spaced according to your individual treatment plan.

Each treatment builds upon the previous one, creating cumulative improvements that continue long after your final session.

It's similar to going to the gym—you don't become stronger after one workout. Consistency delivers the best results.

Is RF Microneedling Right for You?

This treatment may be suitable if you're looking to:

✔ Improve skin texture

✔ Reduce fine lines

✔ Support collagen production

✔ Improve skin firmness

✔ Refine enlarged pores

✔ Restore a smoother, healthier complexion

Every skin is different, which is why I always begin with a comprehensive skin consultation before recommending treatment.

Living in Australia Means Looking After Your Skin

Here in Redland Bay, we experience high UV exposure for much of the year.

Our beautiful climate allows us to spend more time outdoors, but it also means our skin is constantly exposed to environmental stress.

I encourage clients to enjoy the sunshine—but wisely.

Healthy skin isn't about hiding from the sun.

It's about creating balance by:

  • Enjoying safe, sensible sun exposure

  • Wearing SPF daily

  • Staying well hydrated

  • Nourishing your skin with quality skincare

  • Investing in treatments that support long-term skin health

Preventative skin care today often means fewer concerns tomorrow.

Skin Tip of the Month

One of the biggest myths I hear during winter is:

"My skin doesn't feel dry, so it must be hydrated."

In reality, skin can become dehydrated without feeling dry.

Cooler temperatures, lower humidity and indoor heating all weaken the skin barrier, making fine lines more noticeable and leaving skin looking dull.

This month I recommend:

  • Switching to a richer moisturiser

  • Adding a hyaluronic acid serum

  • Drinking plenty of water

  • Supporting your skin barrier with gentle skincare

And remember...

Never skip your SPF.

Even during winter, UV rays continue to contribute to premature ageing, pigmentation and long-term skin damage.

Daily sun protection remains one of the best anti-ageing investments you can make.
